The adventure of Venezia in Serie A lasted only 1 season. They relegated showing anyway a good football but paid the price of unexperience in Serie A.
Now the coach is Javorcic, a very talented coach coming from good experiences in Serie C. During the transfer market the management added some good players and now the goal is to be back in Serie A again through playoffs or top 2.
However for this Coppa Italia debut Venezia announced that 13 players are positive by Covid-19 and wanted to postpone this game. The federation didn't accepted and it will be played under difficult conditions for Venezia.
Coach said "Clearly it will affect what we had prepared a bit, we will have to have a different approach. Right now the only thing we can do is adapt to the situation"
Many players are called from youth teams to fill the right number of players in the rooster.
Ascoli in other hand is a good team of Serie B. Despite the coach left to Serie A, they keept almost the same roster who reached the playoff last season, adding some talented players.
Coach Bucchi have a good mentality but is coming after some disappointing experiences.
I think Venezia will not give priority to this Cup as they have limited number of players and many youngsters. Ascoli is an expert of this division and can make the surprise.
