Ulsan Hyundai finished 2nd last year but it was another disappointing season for them. They dominated the K1 till the playoffs but couldn't keep the 1st place and lost many important games. This was the 2nd year consecutive that they lost the title in same way.
However they manages to win the ACL after a great competition beating Persepolis in final 2-1.
In February they took part in Clubs World Cup but lost both games against Tigres and Al Duhail. For this new season of K1 Ulsan Hyundai made big changes in the team starting from new coach Myung-bo Hong, who returned as a coach after being secretary of national team.
Some important players left including st Junior Negao best player in Asia scored 35 goals last year, st Johnsen left to Montreal and some other experienced player.
Maybe the management wants to start a new cycle with other players. However the replacements are still good like st Hinterseer from Hamburg, st Qaziashvili from Quakes in USA, mid Ho-Lee from Thailand and some talents Kim Ji Hyun.
Gangwon in other hand finished 1st in the relegation group after the playouts. They played a very offensive football during the season but the defense was one of the worst.
Some of the most important players left to bigger teams like Ulsan Hyundai, Pohang or Jeonbuk.
They signed st Siljadi from Serbian league, def Ashurmatov from Gwangju and def Chang-woo Rim from Al Wahda. Almost all defense including gk is new.
Ulsan Hyundai made big changes but they are still a strong team and have been in activity from 1 month. They should fight for the title this year too.
