There is plenty of quality in the Portuguese squad. Will Fernando Santos get it right with the balance in the team?
Portugal have one of the tournament's most exciting squads if you look only at the names. Fernando Santos has a challenge in how to accommodate all the offensive talent on the pitch at the same time. Ronaldo, João Félix, Leão, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes are all big talents but it is important to find the right balance in the team for Santos.
In the centre-back position, Ruben Dias is a given. Next to him is the choice between Danilo and 39-year-old Pepe. It seems that Pepe is fully recovered and will have a chance.
Ghana are considered the underdog and most people believe that they are the weakest in the group. But it would be too early to make such conclusion because Ghana do have very interesting players such as the defensive midfielder Samed and winger Sulemana. I don’t see Portugal get a big win.
