2nd best if not the best pick in the Russian 2nd tier is for Fakel not to lose to Yenisey in Krasnoyarsk. Main focus is on Fakel’s supreme form here. If to include all friendlies they’ve had in build up to the restart of 2021 and add the 2-1 away win against Orenburg (one of the main promotion candidates this season) - Fakel is unbeaten since the start of the year. They went through all friendlies without losing and took that impressive form on their trip to Orenburg, where they actually bossed Orenburg around the pitch, taking the ball away for big margins of the game from the 3rd team in the league.
I had a few picks on Fakel earlier in the season, where I had informed you about the people behind this project - their sports director used to guide Spartak Moscow to medals and eventually moved to Voronezh in hope of taking the club to Premier League within the next couple of seasons. The level of quality and experience in this Fakel squad is tremendous, considering where they are positioned in the table.
Yenisey is not a push over by any means, but seems things are not right in their camp again. They occasionally have financial troubles with salary debts and the heavy defeat they suffered against Volgar (1-4) makes me question the well being of the club.
I doubt they’ll be able to recover fast enough and offer anything to this in-form Fakel team, which is going into this game with immense confidence on the background of their performance in Orenburg.
