Eight rounds before the end of the championship, Brentford still has the right to hope to be able to reach the Premier League directly. They are currently in third place with 10 points less than second-placed Watford, but what is very important, they have two games less than them. In a competition like the Championship where anyone can win, that point difference doesn't play a big role. Especially if we take into account that Watford have two difficult away games against Norwich and against Brentford by the end of the season. The home team has recorded the same number of draws in the last three rounds, but what should definitely be noted is that they were a much better rival in those games, with a double-digit number of attempts towards the opponent's goal. They are also the team with the most goals scored in the league, and this was mostly influenced by the fantastic striker Toney, who is the league's top scorer with 28 goals. What also adorns their game is that in most cases they have great possession of the ball and have the ball under control throughout the match, especially against lower ranked rivals. It is one such rival that they are welcoming on their field today.
Birmingham is certainly not outside the danger zone, because they have 6 points, but also 3 games more than the first team below them. True, in the previous round they achieved a victory against Swansea, but it should be noted that Swansea is in extremely bad shape and has 4 defeats in 4 games, without scoring a goal. Birmingham plays very inefficient football and according to that parameter, they are the worst in the league, they scored only 29 goals in 39 games. The away field is certainly not their strong point because in the last 5 matches they managed to beat only the team that is two places below them, Sheffield Wednesday. In the matches ahead of them, they play with teams against which they can hope for a positive result, but today I do not see a way in which they can seriously threaten the host.
If we take into account the imperative of victory that this match brings for the host, as well as the quality and position of the teams in the table, I expect Brentford to start as offensively as possible from the first minute and to record a much-needed victory.
