Both the results and performances of City have been simply crazy and outstanding, they have won 26 of their last 27 games. The sole loss came in the Manchester derby, which is mentally a different type of a game, and also no run can go on forever!
There have been times when City coach Pep Guardiola has been overcoaching when a normal level performance would had been clearly enough, and also today the biggest enemy of City are City themselves. Out of those 26 wins mentioned above 21 of them have been by at least 2 goals. That is about 80%.
So is Dortmund better than average of the opponents in this run? There is Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester and Chelsea among the casualties who have been beaten by at least two goals, but also a better benchmark in Borussia Mönchengladbach who were beaten twice.
For this game City also have the luxury of a full squad, no injuries, no nothing, and it is not the case that has been recently, they have missed several players throughout the winter.
Dortmund on the other hand are in poor form and miss a lot of important players. They have won only the weak Hertha Berlin in their last 5 games, and even that one was home. They did qualify in the expense of Sevilla to this stage, but were badly outplayed in the 2nd leg and only escaped due the supremacy of Haaland.
Jadon Sancho and Axel Witsel miss the game from the attacking department, and unless Haaland makes a lot of miracles I see City decising this semifinal already in the first leg.
Dortmund are 5th in the Bundesliga table, they are only 7th best away team and the defense has leaked 23 goals in their 14 away games.
Unless Pep Guardiola makes some unexpected moves I see City scoring here at least 3 times, and winning the handicap.
