Manchester United is my favorite here for several reasons.
Villarreal has not been convincing for me. They have an amazing striker like Gerard Moreno, but their season has been pretty irregular. They combined some great games with minutes or whole matches of bad performances.
They know that they are underdogs here, so their plan will try to protect themselves with the ball, dominating the game.
Villarreal had a very easy Europe League: Salzburg, Dinamo Kiev, Dinamo Zagreb and only Arsenal in ½ finals was a serious rival. Anyway, as you may know, Arsenal has been a disaster this season and they weren't able to qualify for Europe in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Manchester United has been the main favorite to win the title since they left the group stage in Champions League.A fantastic team who made a great season, ending 2nd in Premier League and playing very vertical football.
Made a great tournament destroying Real Sociedad (who finished above Villarreal in La Liga), winning against Milan (when they were leaders of Serie A), Granada and Roma.
The only handicap here is the absence of Maguire, a key defender in the Red Devils. But they have a great squad.
With Bruno Ferrnandes at 100%, it’s almost impossible to think that this team wont have at least 5-6 clear chances to score goals. Coach Soljksaer has been doing rotations in the last weeks in order to be at 100% in this game, while Villarreal played (surprisingly for everyone) wth full squad at the weekend vs Real Madrid.
Manchester United has a better squad, better players, more experience, and made a better season than Villarreal. Furthermore, english teams have already shown that physically they are several steps above spanish teams. Even Manchester United already showed that against Real Sociedad and Granada in this competition.
For me Manchester United is the favorite to win the title and should be able to do it in the regular time.
