This year's Euros led to a very unbalanced knockout stage bracket, and we may see a final before the final in a duel between Belgium and Italy. With both sides playing flawless football, it is tough to choose a winner, as both won every single game they played in this tournament. Belgium defeated the defending champion, Portugal, in a 1-0 skirmish, and is hoping to replicate a similar performance against Italy on Friday night. Meanwhile, Italy had trouble prevailing over Austria, going to extra time where Mancini's men barely won 2-1 in the end. The game will be played at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena, where we can expect an amazing atmosphere and a great clash.
Defeating Portugal came with a cost, as Belgium's two key players, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard, both suffered an injury and will likely miss the upcoming match. Alongside these two, Simon Mignolet and Timothy Castagne will also miss the Friday night duel, but those two missing will not concern coach Roberto Martinez. The Red Devils are still using the momentum they gained since the start of the tournament, and are enjoying the role of being a favorite to raise the trophy. This is their biggest test so far, after already defeating two fantastic sides, Denmark and Portugal.
Italy had a perfect group finish, with three victories and three clean sheets throughout the start of the campaign. Everyone saw the Blues as a huge favorite against Austria, writing the underdogs out of the debate of who will be the winner. Still, the Austrian squad almost led Italy to penalties, and have given all of us a great run for their money. I cannot see Italy breaking Belgium down, as Mancini's men lack the gained confidence they earned on the group stage.
