Italy has been the best team of the tournament so far. They are playing fantastic football, dominating all teams and deserved to win in all games. Just against Austria they made a lazy performance, but against a strong side like Belgium they were very convincing.
Is a very solid side, with lot of quality in the midfield and full of confidence after win the last 13 games (one in the extra time against Austria) and conceding just 2 goals: one from penalty (Belgium) and another one by Austria when the match was dead (at 115’ with 2-0 up).
On the other hand, Spain has been pretty lucky in some games. They are playing well, but their attack is just so poor and also are making many individual mistakes at the back. Also physically the team looks tired, as they are trying to make slow games without pace.
They are in the semifinals, but just managed to win one match so far: against Slovakia. The other games were a draw or a victory in extra time (Croatia).
I think that the main problem in this match for Spain is that they never played against a team who will try to take the ball and dominate them. All of their rivals were defensive and dominated, but Italy will try to take control of the game and I think they will do it. Italy has a better squad and pace to take the ball and dominate Spain, so spanish squad will suffer a lot here.
Physically Italy is in a much better position than Spain, and in terms of quality I see italian side one step above.
Spain is conceding a lot in defence and won’t be able to put the same pace as Italy. According to what I saw so far and my analysis of both squads, Italy is the favorite to qualify to the final.
