In my opinion Monaco is clear favorite of today's match up and they should be able to make 3 points here.
In previous season Monaco won twice against Nantes, with the same scoreline. Currently they have fantastic streak against them as they won last 6 matches in a row. (13 wins in last 15 matches!). In overall Nantes lost 46% of Ligue 1 matches against Monaco (45 losses in total), they don't have such bad record against any other team in France.
Monaco didn't lost any key players in pre-season and I expect very good season from them. Only one key player - goalkeeper Lecomte is unavailable today, but coach Niko Kovac will be able to count on new signed players - good quality midfielder Jean Lucas and the promising 20 years old striker Myron Boadu (Monaco spent on him 17mln€). In 2021 Monaco already looked fantastic as they had the best offensive power in whole league this year (51 goals scored) and second-best defense with only 17 goals conceded. I believe they are able to continue to play on this level.
On the other hand Nantes were extremely lucky to avoid relegation in last season. They looked very poor in pre-season matches - they lost 4 of last 5 and 3 times they failed to score. Today I see big troubles for them in goalscoring against very solid Monaco defense especially when Nantes offensive star Muani (9 goals and 4 assists last year) just 9 days ago played in Japan at Olympics game and probably is not ready to start in first squad. Nantes as well should have big problems in middle zone - in pre-season they lost their key central midfielder Louza, in addition to that other key central midfielder Chirivella is unavailable today. Nantes middle zone is simply depleted.
Monaco at midweek won in good style match in Champions League Qualies, they have already good win under the belt and will be easier to find rhythm quicker. They should go with momentum today. Nantes lost 3 of last 4 opening season matches in League 1 and I see another loss today for them.
