Interesting and safe bet in Bundesliga

Although this view may be found debateable by many, I strongly believe that an average team that overperforms in any given season is bound to struggle seriously in the following campaign. Union Berlin, to me, is one of the cases that ticks many boxes.
A low budget club with one of the weakest squads in the Bundesliga (5th from the bottom, if to be precise, in terms of value) managed to shock many by finishing 7th in the 2020/21 season.
Interestingly, virtually none of their players attracted any interest from other sides, so Union quite comfortably kept the squad more/less unchanged. However, this is undeniably a telling factor, suggesting how average and balanced the team is in general. Roughly speaking, Union only had to release left wingback Lenz, who was an important figure for them last term with 27 starts; and centre-back Schlotterback, whose loan deal expired and he headed back to SC Freiburg.
Bayer is as ambitious as ever and will be looking to finish inside the Champions League zone this season.
They’ve released entertaining but inefficient manager Peter Bosz and brought in 42-year old Gerardo Seoane, who made a name for himself with a successful spell at Young Boys (Switzerland), taking them to a number of domestic titles.
Leverkusen still have a really interesting roaster with the likes of EURO’20 star Patrick Schick top of the chart list. They did sell Leon Bailey to Aston Villa, but at this moment its hard to say who’s benefited more from the deal - the English side or Germans, who got 32 millions for a VERY inconsistent winger.
In turn, Leverkusen splashed cash into the transfer of Brugge centre-back Koussounou (23.00m), underlining their ambitions and goals for the season. The figure of this deal is pretty wild for Bundesliga standards.
As a result, before the Saturday game, given the setup, Bayer’s 0 handicap is looking like a really attractive and safe bet to me.
Visitor’s expected lineup, that makes me rest assured they are more than capable of taking points from Berlin:
Hradecky - Frimpong, Kossounou, Tah, Bakker - C. Aranguiz, Demirbay - Diaby, Amiri, Paulinho - Schick
