Atletico Mineiro and Palmeiras will play the second game of the semi-finals of Copa Libertadores at Mineiro Stadium in Belo Horizonte and decide who will play in the finals in Montevideo. The first game in Sao Paulo ended in a bore draw, it was a tough game, both teams tried not to concede a goal, Hulk hit the post from the penalty spot and the overall impression was that Mineiro was closer to win. Now Palmeiras will travel to Belo Horizonte, where Atletico Mineiro has only one defeat in the last 20 games and in those games, Atletico managed to win 16 of them!!! Atletico also won 7 games in a row at home without conceding a single goal so it will be very hard for Palmeiras to score a goal against Mineiro's rock-solid defence.
Both teams didn't perform well in their last games, Mineiro drew with Sao Paulo away 0-0, while Palmeiras lost against Corinthians away 2-1. Atletico MG has to win this game in order to go to the finals because any draw with goals will go in Palmeiras favour as the away goal rule is still active in Copa Libertadores. As I mentioned in my previous predictions early in the season, for me Atletico MG and Flamengo are the best teams in South America and I think one of these teams will win Copa Libertadores. This game in Belo Horizonte will be a tough task for Atletico Mineiro, Palmeiras is defending champion but I think Atletico will find a way to outscore them and probably play in Montevideo against Flamengo. The reason why I favour the host is that Palmeiras is playing really bad against "top 6" teams from Brazil, they have six defeats and only one draw. It is also good to try halftime draw- Mineiro as I expect 0-0 at halftime and a win for Atletico in 90 minutes.
