As a Finn myself I would like to say we have a good chance, but as the Norwegians have a superior player material and a home advantage,and also the fact the the season in Finland is finished all of this makes Norway 65-70% favourites here! A look at the results so far in this qualification group, and some key players below.
Both have played 4 games. Norway have 3 wins and a 3-2 loss away at Croatia, Finland have drawn with Azerbaidzan and lost at home to Croatia by 0-2, but then surprisingly won over strong Austria last time at home by 3-1.
Norway have scored 13 goals so far, and it is no wonder as they have a several big target men available, just like Tore Andre Flo was in his career in Chelsea, and he is part of the coaching team now. Several of the Norwegian players have already played for the first team of Norway as well as in big teams in Europe,
Emil Konradsen Ceïde at Rosenborg BK, Jörgen Strand Larsen at Groningen, Hakon Evjen at Alkmaar and Kristoffer Askildsen from Sampdoria.
The Finnish team is not a bad one and some of them come from seemigly decent clubs like key midfielder Tauriainen from Freiburg SC, but unfortunately he has mostly been involved in the reserve team, and also hs changed his position to be a full-back. Another one of the starting midfielders with a good club status is Jaakko Oksanen, from Brentford, but he is on loan at 2nd highest level in Scotland.
I have some hopes that there would be half a dozen decent professionals coming from this Finland squad in the years to come, but today the big difference is that Norway have them already now.
