Hartlepool vs Mansfield
Hartlepool host Mansfield for this English League 2 round 30 battle at Victoria Park early on Wednesday Beijing time. This is the 4th highest level of English football and understandably does not offer very high-quality football or even close to world-class individuals. However, the players do fight very hard and yet another physical, intense battle is on the cards here. “Old school” traditional English football is how one could describe this league. Hartlepool have had some offensive problems lately and I do not see this being a high-scoring match. I, in fact, believe this match to be more low-scoring than the betting market does. A draw would probably not be a disappointment for either team.. A probability of this result is 32% here. This would of course be enough for my fans and myself to win the bet Hartlepool +0.5 goals handicap.
Mansifield are definitely the better team here by raw class but the home advantage is there even at this level! I rate Mansfield as the 10th best team in this league in my power ratings that illustrate the teams’ raw class. They currently occupy the 8th place in the standings and are definitely over-rated here by the betting market. They have 3 of their latest 5 matches but we must remember that 2 of these 3 wins have come against weak teams.. In their most recent match they did deserve all 3 points against Oldham. It was a 2-1 away win but Oldham are the second last team in the standings. Before this they did not even quite deserve the 0-1 win over Rochdale who are in the 20th place and much worse a team than Hartlepool. I would not say they are in particularly good form.. Taking a look at the standings they do have a chance to take 7th place and qualify for the play offs but I see this being quite unlikely. I mentioned above that the hosts have had some problems with their offensive play. This has been the case but the definitely have potential for more. I would expect better performances especially from forward Omar Bogle, 29. Hartlepool have been a bit inconsistent lately but did play a pretty good team against a top-3 team Northampton away from home and would have deserved a draw after 58% ball possession and recording more completed passes and dangerous attacks. Before this they took a great win over a good team Newport 3-2 away from home. I see the visitors only as slim favorites here with a 37% chance of winning.
